Will Smith says there has ‘never been infidelity’ in his marriage with Jada Pinkett Smith

Will Smith has opened up about his marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith in light of the “entanglement” scandal involving his wife and singer August Alsina.

In a wide-ranging interview with Gayle King on CBS Sunday Morning, the King Richard star said neither he nor the actress has been unfaithful in their 25-year marriage despite speculation they have an open relationship.

“There’s never been infidelity in our marriage. Jada and I talk about everything, and we have never surprised one another with anything ever,” the 53-year-old said on camera. Watch the video above.

The actor stressed he and Jada, 50, are not fussed that people “chatter” about their personal life because it is important to keep it real.

“I have decided that chatter about my life can be of a benefit to people,” Smith explained. “Chatter is the first stage to having a real conversation and to be able to truly explore if some of the things in your heart are loving or poisonous.”

The couple has been transparent when it comes to their marriage, even openly discussing Jada’s relationship when Alsina shockingly revealed he was romantically involved with the actress back in 2016.

“We were over,” Pinkett Smith confirmed while discussing the relationship on camera. “From there, as time went on, I got into a different kind of entanglement with August.”

At the time, Alsina had claimed in a YouTube interview that Smith had given his permission for him to pursue a relationship with Pinkett Smith. Not true, she says.

“One of the things I want to clear up that was kind of swirling in the press was you giving permission, which the only person who can give permission in that particular circumstance is myself,” Pinkett Smith said.

“But what August was actually trying to communicate — because I could actually see how he would perceive it as permission because we were separated amicably — I think he also wanted to make it clear that he’s not a homewrecker, which he’s not.”

Pinkett Smith said she entered the relationship with Alsina out of a desire to feel good and help heal him, but soon discovered she needed to find happiness within herself first. So she ended things with Alsina and reconciled with Smith.

“I would definitely say that we tried everything we could to get away from each other, only to realise that that wasn’t possible,” she concluded on her web series.

The couple has been married since 1997 and have two children together, Jaden, 23, and Willow, 21.
