‘The First Lady’ Cast vs. Real Life People They Played, in Pictures

Michelle Obama, Played by Viola Davis

When she became the First Lady back in 2009, Michelle also made history as the first Black FLOTUS. Along with her advocacy for healthy eating, education, and women’s rights, Michelle is also known for her amazing fashion sense that we still can’t get enough of to this day.

As a winner of an Academy Award, an Emmy Award, and a Tony Award, there’s really no better person to take on the role of Michelle than Viola Davis. But even she points out that playing Mrs. Obama is still nerve-wracking. “It keeps you up at night, because you don’t want to insult them by your portrayal,” she said at the show’s 2022 Television Critics Association Press Tour presentation.
