Nicola Coughlan Is Breathtaking in Richard Quinn on Her Met Gala Debut

Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan is attending the Met Gala for the first time. To commemorate the momentous occasion, the actor chose to wear a custom jaw-dropping ensemble created by British designer Richard Quinn. “I can’t believe I’m really going,” the actor tells Vogue excitedly. “This is the morning of the event and my dress is hanging up beside me. It feels surreal.”

The look – comprising an embroidered and feathered pink and black ball gown with matching cape – takes inspiration from the fabrications of lavish 19th-century style with its silhouette, exposed cups and use of duchess satin. “The pieces feel amazing to wear, even when I put on the first toile it was beautifully cut. Richard and his team are so impressive,” says Coughlan of the look. “We’re so thrilled to be working with Nicola. She’s the epitome of gilded glamour, especially since recently starring as the iconic Lady Whistledown in Bridgerton,” Quinn says of working with the actor. “We wanted to embody the theme through shape and textile without being too literal.”

Styled by Aimée Croysdill, the ensemble is paired with Jimmy Choo court heels, and exquisite jewelry from Swarovski. “The jewelry pieces are the perfect way to finish off the look, as it gives it that gilded but totally modern glamour,” explains Croysdill of the final touches. “Nicola uses fashion and jewelry as a means to express herself – and that’s exactly what I want my collection to be: a catalyst for someone’s personality,” adds Swarovski creative director Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert.
