Gemma Owen has been unveiled as one of the Love Island 2022 contestants just weeks after denying she was taking part in the show.
The 19-year-old beauty, who is daughter to England football pro Michael Owen and his wife Louise Bonsall, had said weeks ago that her famous dad ‘wouldn’t be very happy at all if I came back and said “I’m going on Love Island.”‘
She also previously revealed she was ‘not looking for love’ but Gemma has since changed her mind – no doubt leaving her father concerned about her signing.

The reports come less than two months after Gemma said that Love Island is ‘not something that I would do’.
In an exclusive chat with MailOnline, the star explained: ‘I watch Love Island every summer but right now it’s not something I would consider doing because I am not looking for love at the moment.
‘Some of the challenges on Love Island, they’re quite out there. I’m not sure I would be able to kiss 10 boys in a row but I do think it’s a great show.’

‘I would need to wait until I’ve moved out,’ Gemma concluded.
The first crop of Islanders will all be unveiled this week as the finishing touches are put on their new villa, ready for the start of the series, presented by Laura Whitmore, on Monday June 6.

Speaking on the announcement, Gemma said: ‘I am open to finding love, I’m wanting to have a really fun summer. I was seeing someone and then that didn’t work out so I thought, “Why not?”’
She says her competitive spirit will help her get what she wants from her summer of love, explaining:
‘Sport has always been a big thing for me and my family. My dad was a professional football player. I’ve competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11-years-old.’

‘I’ve travelled all across Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions. I would say I’m very competitive. [When it comes to relationships] I will always go for what I want.’
‘But at the same time, I’m not going to mess up something for someone who is in a proper relationship or get in the way of a couple if they have a genuine connection. I wouldn’t do anything to another girl that I wouldn’t be happy with them doing to me.
‘I would say I’m fun, flirty and fiery. I think I’m good at giving advice, I’m a good person to talk to, I’m very honest. If I want the same guy, I’d do it but in a nice respectful way.’
