Lisa Marie Presley will be laid to rest at Graceland next to her ‘beloved’ son Benjamin Keough

Lisa Marie Presley will be laid to rest at Elvis’ Memphis mansion after she died yesterday aged 54.

The singer-songwriter will be buried next to her ‘beloved’ son Benjamin Keough – who shot himself dead in 2020 – at Graceland in the family cemetery.

Her death came just four days after she was back at the sprawling Tennessee estate on what would have been her rock legend father’s 88th birthday.

She previously revealed how the mansion, which passed to her when Elvis died, was a haunted place for her, saying it reminded her of her ‘mortality’ daily.

Lisa Marie suffered a cardiac arrest yesterday morning and was rushed to West Hills Hospital in Los Angeles, where she later died.

Her ex-husband Danny Keough had reportedly performed CPR until paramedics arrived and whisked her to the medical center.

An agent for Lisa Marie’s daughter Riley Keoughtold The Hollywood Reporter: ‘Lisa Marie’s final resting place will be at Graceland, next to her beloved son Ben.’

Benjamin was 27 when he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 2020, which triggered ‘unrelenting grief’ for his mother.

He was buried in the Meditation Garden with family including his grandfather Elvis, great-grandmother Gladys, great-grandfather Vernon and great-great-grandmother Minnie Mae.

Benjamin’s father is Lisa Marie’s first husband Danny Keough, whom she married in 1988 and divorced in 1994.

She wrote a rare essay about her unrelenting grief over losing him to suicide in an August 2022 piece.

She wrote: ‘Obviously, no parent chooses this road, and thankfully not all parents will have to become a victim to it — and I do mean VICTIM here.

‘I used to hate that word. Now I know why. I’ve dealt with death, grief and loss since the age of nine years old.

‘I’ve had more than anyone’s fair share of it in my lifetime and somehow, I’ve made it this far. But this one, the death of my beautiful, beautiful son?

‘The sweetest and most incredible being that I have ever had the privilege of knowing, who made me feel so honored every single day to be his mother?’

She added: ‘Who was so much like his grandfather on so many levels that he actually scared me?

‘Which made me worry about him even more than I naturally would have? No. Just no… no no no no…’

Lisa Marie previously opened up about how her childhood home was a haunted place for her.

She told Playboy in 2003: ‘The backyard of Graceland is a graveyard, basically. How many people have a family grave in the backyard?’

She continued: ‘How many people are reminded of their fate, of their mortality, every f***ing day?

‘All the graves are lined up and there’s a spot there, waiting for me, right next to my grandmother.’

Lisa Marie was with her father when he died in his bathroom at Graceland in 1977.

The then nine-year-old saw him on the floor in a pool of his own vomit as people worked to resuscitate him.

Meanwhile her grandfather Vernon wailed, ‘Oh God son, please don’t go, please don’t die.’

She said at the time: ‘What’s wrong with my daddy?. Something’s wrong with my daddy, and I’m going to find out.’

Lisa Marie had been back at Graceland over the weekend with author David Kessler as she planned a podcast on grief with him.

Kessler, who authored books with famed psychiatrist Elisabeth Kubler Ross, revealed he had traveled to Memphis with her to celebrate Elvis’ 88th birthday.

He said: ‘She had countless invites for the weekend, but for her, there were only three important ones.

‘Being at her father’s birthday celebration, spending time at her son and father’s grave after the tours left Graceland, and meeting with a recently bereaved mother.

‘I watched how Lisa Marie tenderly talked to this heartbroken mother about what to expect in grief. That’s what interested her most these days, helping others in grief.’

Kessler said as he spoke with her last Saturday about the deaths she pointed to where she would be buried beside Benjamin.

‘I said a long time from now,’ Kessler recalled, ‘and she said, ‘Yes, I have so much to do.”

Kessler said Lisa Marie had become somewhat of an expert on grief after seeking his help following her son’s death in July 2020 at age 27.

Kessler, who lost his own son in 2016, said the two struck up an ‘improbable friendship’ as they connected over their loss.

‘She was in my grief educator program and many who met her and chatted with her had no idea who she was,’ Kessler wrote.

‘To them, she was a mother whose son had died and wanted to turn her pain into purpose.’

Lisa Marie Presley told devoted fans at Graceland, her father's Memphis estate, that she hardly left her home and they were the 'only people who can bring me out of the house' during a celebration for Elvis' 88th birthday just days before her sudden death

Lisa Marie Presley told devoted fans at Graceland, her father’s Memphis estate, that she hardly left her home and they were the ‘only people who can bring me out of the house’ during a celebration for Elvis’ 88th birthday just days before her sudden death

Over the past two years, Lisa Marie began co-leading grief groups with Kessler at her home, and the two were planning to start a podcast to help others going through the same pain.

He said during the trip to Memphis last week, Lisa Marie appeared ‘optimistic.’

‘Graceland was her happy place and the employees who all knew her shared that she was looking so much better,’ Kessler wrote. ‘She looked more at peace and was so proud of the Elvis movie.’

Graceland is now expected to be split between Lisa Marie’s 14-year-old twins Harper Vivienne and Finley and her actress daughter Riley Keough.

Lisa Marie had been rushed to a hospital in critical condition and was said to be in a coma following a ‘full cardiac arrest’ shortly after she had been complaining about stomach pains.

Sources yesterday said she was found unresponsive in her bedroom by her housekeeper and ex-husband Danny Keough – who she has been living with – performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Her mother Priscilla, who was at her daughter’s side, said in a statement: ‘It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.

‘She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss.’

She added: ‘Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment.’

Lisa Marie’s death came just two days after she was pictured with her mother at the Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hills Hilton.

It was here that Austin Butler won a Best Actor award for his portrayal of her father in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis and told her he would ‘love her forever’.
