‘Glee’ Star Amber Riley Says She’s Working On a Beauty Product at Essence’s Black Women in Hollywood Awards

Amber Riley has been busy. I mean, she just performed at the celeb-filled special Step Into…the Movies with the iconic Baz Luhrmann only a few days ago before heading to Essence magazine’s 15th annual Black Women in Hollywood event yesterday.

The night took place at Beverly Wilshire Hotel ballroom and was in celebration of powerhouses Aunjanue Ellis, Quinta Brunson, Chanté Adams, and Nia Long. Needless to say, Amber was in the company of fellow Hollywood royalty, including Lena Waithe, Will Smith, MJ Rodriguez, and Storm Reid, all of whom were excited to commemorate the honorees.

Cosmopolitan’s red-carpet reporter Brandi Fowler caught up with Amber at the event and asked all about how she felt being at the ceremony. “I always say I leave feeling empowered. I love the speeches because you get to hear from the horse’s mouth what they’ve been through and how they’ve gotten to where they are,” Amber said.

The Glee star beamed when she spoke about one of the event’s honorees, Oscar nominee Aunjanue Ellis: “I’m so excited that we’re celebrating Aunjanue Ellis. She just deserves all the flowers. She does incredible work. It’s been a long time. I think she’s just one of those actors that knows how to transform and it’s something that I desire to be. She’s a chameleon. I’m just in awe of her ability to turn into a character and really make you feel like that character, like you’re just watching a person be a person and that’s a hard thing to do.” We’re not crying, you are.

Finally, when asked about upcoming projects, let’s just say Amber said a lot by saying…not so much. She admitted: “I’m working on my second EP right now, working on producing my own content. And, yeah, I’m working on some things in the beauty space.Hmmmm, okay, like what?! A beauty line?!

“Not a beauty line, [but] something like a product. Something like it.” *insert Amber’s smile* Okay, fiiiiiine, we’ll take it!
