Eva Mendes is ‘incredibly honoured’ to be announced ambassador for McDonald’s McHappy Day for second time

Eva Mendes has been announced as ambassador for 2022 McDonald’s McHappy Day.

The Hollywood star didn’t hesitate when asked to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) again, two years after she fronted the charity event back in 2020.

However, back then, Mendes showed her support from afar, visiting with Ronald McDonald House families via Zoom to chat about everything and anything and spread positivity. But this year, with the pandemic easing and borders opening, Mendes is able to visit with the families in person.

And Mendes is already in Australia. This past weekend, the Fast & Furious actress relocated to our shores with her partner, Ryan Gosling, and their children – Esmeralda, eight, and Amada, six – as the actor films his new movie, The Fall Guy.

“I am incredibly honoured to once again partner with McDonald’s to raise awareness of McHappy Day and support the truly invaluable work of Ronald McDonald House Charities,” Mendes said in a statement.

“I’m looking forward to meeting with some of the incredible families staying at a Ronald McDonald House, listening to their inspirational stories and witnessing first-hand the life-changing support services provided by RMHC.”

It’s important for Mendes to connect with the sick children and their families who rely on the organisation because her cousin Linda was in the same boat seven years ago.

In an interview with 9Honey Celebrity back in 2020, Mendes revealed her cousin Linda’s son, Andrew, was sick and Ronald McDonald House helped their family in their time of need.

“It was around the time I was becoming a mother for the first time and I just couldn’t imagine the amount of stress she was under and the fear,” Mendes told us at the time.

“And when I offered her everything under the sun, she said, ‘No, really, I’m OK, Evie’ – they call me Evie – ‘I’m at the Ronald McDonald House and it’s amazing. I couldn’t be more comfortable and I have such a support system here.’

“So I’m internally grateful to Ronald McDonald House. Now little Andrew is seven and he’s doing great. He’s a healthy little boy.”

Mendes will meet families at Ronald McDonald House and will visit a local McDonald’s restaurant on McHappy Day on Saturday, November 19.
