Dior Lip Maximizer Review

  • Dior recently relaunched the fan-favorite Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss.
  • The relaunch includes three new shades and a new formula.
  • One editor tested the lip product and is sharing her results.

Sometimes, searching for beauty products that work for my specific needs can leave me feeling like Goldilocks: always on the hunt for something “just right.” When it comes to lip glosses in particular, with so many options on the market, it often feels like I’m sifting through new choices every week, and most of them don’t land a permanent spot in my makeup bag.

I’ve found items that offer the perfect amount of shine but feel too sticky for everyday wear. I’ve cycled through glosses that are the exact shade I’m looking for but only last minutes before wearing off. Through years of testing, I’ve learned that for a lip product to work for me, it needs to have great pigment, stay put throughout the day, and offer shine without the stick. While finding something that meets these criteria can be difficult, one product I recently tried passed my tests with flying colors: the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss ($40).

What I Like About the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss

Since I received these lip glosses in the mail, I’ve been wearing them nonstop. The formula is lightweight and hydrating, and the color is perfectly pigmented. It has a slight tingle when you apply it, but it feels almost minty, and it isn’t overpowering or uncomfortable. It makes my lips look plump and juicy, and it’s long lasting.

The best part? A little product goes a long way. I have decent-sized lips, and my bottom lip has some discoloration from sun damage, but I never have to double dip and apply excess product to achieve an even color. Just one swipe is enough to cover the top and bottom.

How to Use the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss

Dior Lip Maximizer Review

Since this is one of my go-to products for all of my never-ending Hinge dates, I have to make sure it can last me through hours of talking (and maybe kissing). My lips get chapped easily, so before applying this product for the first time, I like to make sure my lips are smooth and buffed out. I typically start off by using an exfoliating lip scrub, and from there I apply a tiny bit of Aquaphor. Next, I swipe the Dior Lip Maximizer over my lips, making sure to apply the product evenly. I’ve found that applying it this way gives me the best, most long-lasting results.

The brand recommends either applying the product on its own or using it as a lip primer to hydrate the lips prior to applying lipstick. I have tried it as a primer and can confirm that it’s great for adding extra shine and hydration to lipsticks that would otherwise be drying or matte.

What to Consider Before Trying the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss

If you’re someone who wasn’t a huge fan of the Dior Lip Oil because you felt it was too sticky, this product would be perfect for you. It isn’t sticky, but it offers a similar level of shine that is extremely long lasting. However, if you’re someone who is looking for dramatic lip-plumping results, this might not be the product for you, because while my lips certainly looked plump after application, they didn’t necessarily look much bigger.
