According to Christopher Key, a renowned anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist and self-proclaimed “vaccine police” is urging his followers to drink their own urine as a means of fighting off Covid-19, rather than getting vaccinated.
In a series of videos posted to Key’s Telegram account over the weekend, Key epouses that “The antidote that we have seen now, and we have tons and tons of research, is urine therapy. OK, and I know to a lot of you this sounds crazy, but guys, God’s given us everything we need,” as reported by The Daily Beast.
According to William Schaffner, M.D., professor of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, there is absolutely no proof that drinking urine—yours or anyone else’s—can cure Covid, let alone any other illness.
“There is no evidence that drinking any body fluid including urine will in any way influence the behavior of the virus once it enters your body,” he says. “Let’s just call this folk medicine.”
Urine therapy has made its way across alternative medicine circles since the early 20th century, despite numerous studies showing it has no scientific basis to cure illnesses.
Key, calling the Covid-19 vaccine “the worst bioweapon I have ever seen,” admitted to drinking his own urine in his Telegram videos, urging his viewers “Now drink urine!”
Out of the numerous home remedies touted to “cure Covid,” this one really takes the piss.
