In a shuffling of the cabinet on October 26, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau named Pablo Rodríguez as the new Minister of Canadian Heritage. Rodríguez previously served as the Canadian Heritage Minister from July 2018 through to November 2019. Since November 20, 2019, Rodríguez has served as Leader of the Government in the House of Commons.
Rodríguez has represented the electoral district of Honoré-Mercier since 2015, and previously served as MP to the same district from 2004-2011. He has a background in public affairs and project management, and a history in the humanitarian sector, including serving as vice-president of Oxfam Québec from 2000-2004.
Steven Guilbeault, who served as Canadian Heritage Minister since November 2019, will now serve as Minister of Environment and Climate Change.
These changes come as part of a larger cabinet update, which included a number of prominent additions and reassignments. For a full list of the changes to the federal cabinet, click here.
